Whether you’re brand new to DJing or ready to level up your skills, these private lessons are designed to give you real-world confidence behind the decks. Carlos Baca is a Portland-based DJ and founder of PopCartPDX, a mobile, artist-owned sound system performing at public festivals, riverfront events, bike parties, and community dance events. His teaching approach blends technical fundamentals with practical performance experience — so you’re not just learning theory, you’re learning how to play live. In your 90-minute private session, you can expect focused, hands-on instruction tailored to your goals and experience level. Topics may include: • Equipment basics (controllers, CDJs, Rekordbox/Serato) • Beatmatching and phrasing • EQ and smooth transitions • Building a cohesive set • Energy control and crowd reading • Preparing for your first live performance • Drum & Bass and underground electronic music foundations Each lesson includes guided practice time and actionable feedback so you leave with clear next steps for improvement. Lessons are available in-person in the Portland area, with select virtual sessions available upon request.
